Family Guy: The Ollie Williams Chronicles

There’s a million one-liners that have generated from the Family Guy. I’d have to say some of my favorite come from Ollie Williams, the meteorologist. All of his lines are obvious statements about the current situation, which makes them so great! “It’s gonna rain!”

Xbox 360 Elite With More To Come

I could totally get used to Microsoft making big official announcements at 9:00 PM PST. Good thing too, because they’re doing another one tomorrow!

Tonight, Microsoft let the hype out that there were going to be TWO official announcements for the Xbox 360 line.

The first one was made tonight, at the sweet time of 9:00 in the evening. It was the obvious announcement. Gamers, meet the 360 elite:Xbox 360 Elite

As for the second announcement, we’ll have to wait for a press video tomorrow. I’m in agreement with a comment by USArcher on the on10.net site:

- Based on the announcement yesterday of NetFlix founder being voted onto the Microsoft Board of Directors I would think it would have something NetFlix being integrated into XBox Live Video MarketPlace. That would vastly expand Microsoft’s current offerings. Hopefully that carries over to Zune and Media Center too.

All the pieces are lined up for Microsoft to make a big announcement like this. I don’t know if it will be Netflix, but Tivo recently stole what would have been a more obvious partnership for Redmond when they announced that Amazon’s Unbox service was going to be available on all the latest Tivos.

Other factors:
- At CES Microsoft announced that IPTV was coming to the living room via Media Center (aka known as Vista) and Xbox Live.

- The Xbox Live service went down for “necessary maintenance” lately. Hrm…

- It’s well known that Xbox 360 downloads are far superior to Apple TV and Tivo/Unbox. They’re offered in full 780p HDTV, the highest resolution downloads yet. (these statements are lacking some serious fact checking but its late and I’m tired. I do recall Gizmodo or Kotaku or Engadget or some fucking leprechaun in my dreamscape making the statement.)

- Gamers are getting comfortable with the PS3 and it’s price. I guess they realize that $600 isn’t so bad for a machine that has a Blu-Ray drive, Folding@Home, and a second-Second Life experience (Home). Microsoft needs a major victory to get their buzz back, and Halo 3 is still a long way in the distance.

- Wal-Mart, Blockbuster, and/or Netflix will do almost anything to get a leg up on iTunes and Amazon–even if it means tag-teaming with the house of Gates.

- Oh how I wish the announcement would just be a fucking simple stickpad already. I hate playing fighters with a dual analog control. PLEASE Microsoft, WE’RE BEGGING NOW! Give X-Arcade a 3rd Party license already! (or come out with your own) /RANT.

Whatever the news, be sure to check your radar at 9ish tomorrow. We’ll find out how sneaky Microsoft really is.

Jenna Fischer, aka Pam from The Office, bares it all on Wired Cover.

I just renewed my subscription for Wired Magazine today. Had to. You can’t receives something like this in the mail without immediately subscribing for more:

Jenna Fischer Nude Wire Magazine Cover

I heard the rumors, but didn’t really grasp what the attention was about until I saw a real copy of the magazine. At first, I was disappointed, thinking I got the “clothed” version of the issue. Luckily the “clothes” were simply a transparency on top of the actual image. Like a paper doll. I always wanted my own Jenna Fischer paper doll. Especially a nude one! Jenna Fischer is so hawt!

It is official. Jenna Fischer has replaced Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron as the universal geek internet poster babe. I predict that news of Jenna Fischer in a sci-fi flick will break by the end of the year.

So - Wired did you geeks the favor of sending you a picture of The Office’s Pam, nekkid. Time to reciprocate the favor by subscribing to this awesome mag.

Damn — looks like Play-Asia.com is at it again. This is a follow-up to their great Chinese New Year promo. Quite a few goodies on display. Prey for $25 is a steal, and the Japanese DK Jungle Beat (sans bongo drums) for $6 is a way to sample the Japanese soundtrack to a pretty kickass game. And then there is “Oshare Majo Love and Berry” for those who love playing interactive card games for girls (I know who you are). A few other bargains in their bin too. Gotta love Play-Asia!

Guitar Hero II: Coming to My Xbox 360 Soon!

I’m pretty stoked to try out the Guitar Hero hype on the 360 finally. I can only imagine that the online “jam sessions” are going to rock with other uncoordinated fumble fucks who can’t play worth shit (like me). Seriously, I hear that once you get the hang of things, this game rules. With a little practice I can take on Eddie Van Halen in the International Air Guitar contest…

SkullCandy Proletariat. Silence is Golden.

When companies grow, it’s a mixed blessing. The company I work for is going through such. It’s great, we’re getting more and more people in our office. Our revenues and earnings are up. Bosses are happy. Everything is giddy.

But…the noise! I can’t believe how much has changed in the last month alone. I used to be able to sit and get a lot of work done in almost pure silence. Lately, it seems that the chatter has increased and the walls are closing in on this place. I love my job, I really do. If only I could get some work done without hearing an across office cackle or a group of belly laughs.

So, I am buying the SkullCandy Proletariat headphones from Amazon this weekend. They’re $55 currently and from the reviews I read they have decent noice canceling for a mid-range headset. Sure we’re not talking BOSE level quality, but then again I’m not breaking the bank to buy a $300 pair of headphones either. ANY reduction of noise at this point is a GOOD thing.
